Hiking With The Family: How To Dress Your Children Correctly

Hiking is such a fun family activity - as long as you're prepared. With the right preparation, you can have a wonderful day out with everyone happy at all times. When you're not prepared, however - that's when things start to get a little tense!
While you might have the snacks, toys, and drinks all ready to go in your trusty backpack, one thing that is commonly looked over is clothing.
When out in the sun all day, children need to be dressed correctly so that they don't get too hot or too cold, and that they're comfortable for the entire hike. Let's take a look at a few must-haves when getting your child ready for your hike!
1. The Right Clothing
During the warmer months, it is important that children don't overheat. Put them in a cotton t-shirt and shorts with comfortable yet durable shoes. The top part of the foot is incredibly fragile, so make sure that it's covered to prevent sunburn!

2. Accessories!
A hat is a must have on hot summer hikes, so make sure that you have one that will keep the sun out of little eyes! It will also help protect the face from sunburn.
Another thing you need to avoid sunburn is a snood - this will protect the neck from the sun as well as looking super cool! Many parents forget about protecting the neck, so a snood will be invaluable on a family hike.

3. Protective Skincare

Of course, you're going to need to take the sun cream with you - but what else do you need?
Many parents forget about a vital piece of the puzzle that is guaranteed to make your children feel more comfortable and allow you to suffer through less complaining - bite and sting relief!
Finally, we always recommend taking some hand sanitizer with you to avoid any germs getting too close for comfort with little ones. When you can't stop them from touching dirt and nature, you can certainly kill any harmful bacteria!
Summary
Good luck with your hike, but if you take our advice from our article - you won't need it! Have a great time and I bet your little ones will as well (and they'll be looking stylish in their snoods, too!)
